Martial arts for Portland, TN

When you live at the top of Sumner County, the good options often feel like they belong to somebody else. Portland is far enough north that drivers brush the Kentucky line before they hit much of anything, which is exactly why folks here are used to traveling for the things that matter. A serious martial arts gym is one of them, and the run south to Furst Place MMA is about as simple as a drive gets.

We built this place to be the answer for people who refuse to settle for the nearest thing. You will not find a watered down class or a coach phoning it in. Every session is run by instructors who care whether you actually improve, and the room itself is friendly to newcomers who have never thrown a punch or shot a single takedown. Plenty of our members arrived with no background at all, and our beginner on-ramp meets you exactly where you are.

Ego stays at the door. Sparring is something you opt into once you are ready, never a rite of passage forced on day one. If you have been searching the north end of the county for training that lives up to the drive, this is it. Come see for yourself, and let the first class be on us.

Four Disciplines

What you can train

Four programs share one floor, so a Portland member can build a complete game without bouncing between gyms. Mixed Martial Arts ties everything together for striking and grappling alike. Kickboxing sharpens your hands, feet, and conditioning. No-Gi Jiu Jitsu teaches you how to stay calm and in control once a fight reaches the ground. And Wrestling is where you learn the takedown game, the art of deciding when and where a fight happens by putting your opponent on the mat and keeping them there. Read each program page to see which one fits the goal that gets you in the car.
